Aeronautical is one of the most challenging fields of engineering with a wide scope for growth. This field deals with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, space exploration and defence system. The scope of Aeronautical Engineering has a wide range of scope like: design and development of aircraft parts, testing new aerodynamic and aviation systems, quality management and improvement maintenance.
The department of Aeronautical Engineering was esatblished in the year 2005, offers 4 year B. Tech programme with an intake of 120. MLRIT is one among a very few Engineering colleges offering the prestigious course on Aeronautical Engineering. Hyderabad is going to be the hub of Aeronautical Engineering and space sciences and the department is fully geared to meet the challenges of the related establishments - HAL, ISRD, and DRDL. The department started M.Tech program in Aerosspace Engineering with an intake of 18 from the academic year 2011 and increased to 42 in 2013.
The students from this department have won University Gold Medals in 2009 & 2012; the institute has achieved 100 % results in Aeronautical Engineering, students achieved Gold Medal in Javelin through and Silver Medal in Shot-put in Central Zone Athletic Championship conducted by JNTUH University, Hyderabad.
B.Tech Program in Aeronautical Engineering has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since 2013

Selected students of Aeronautical Engineering are offered internship at Boeing!
Apart from the final year projects both mini and final projects the college has tie-ups with organizations such as Boeing, Wipro, Infosys, Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Sun Micro Systems, Cyient and IBM. Recently a Boeing team visited the MLRIT campus and offered internship to students. During the internship period the students will also receive a stipend. Earlier Boeing was only offering internship programmes to IIT students.
